Raw Talk - Is it really natural?

Raw Talk - Is it really natural?
Is it really natural or just another bit of clever marketing?  What does the word natural mean to you?

Perhaps it gives you a sense of honesty, something you can believe in, or maybe you feel it indicates a healthier food? Let’s face it nobody wants to be feeding their best canine friends a diet of junk food. The thought of filling them with additives, colourants or other chemical ingredients is now generally known as something to avoid. Foods containing synthetic additives are generally considered not ideal for dogs and are already being avoided by most dog owners choosing a natural healthy diet.

As someone who wants the best for their dog, would you be willing to go one step further? To consider really providing your dog with the diet he would naturally choose, the diet his body is naturally designed to digest and naturally able to benefit from? The word natural is on many bags of dog food these days and can confuse people every time they look at the packaging so, we thought it would be great to give you a heads up to what some of the terms actually mean. We want you to visit our pet store to buy pet food armed with the knowledge to make the best decision for your dog.

Contains ingredients that were grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers. A great term to look out for, although many ingredients that would not make up a dogs natural diet of choice would still be ‘un-natural’ whether organic or not.

Existing in or formed by nature. Not all food types found in nature are compatible with a dog’s digestive system or needed by a dog for strength, health and immunity. Once a food has been heat processed it is not as it would have formed or existed in nature but many natural pet foods use this description because the quality of the ingredients are better and can be traced. Check the label and look for clear ingredient labels that tell you what the food is. You should also be able to recognise ALL the ingredients without having to Google them!

Contains ingredients in their completely un-cooked state as they were formed and existed in nature. The only genuinely natural dog food and a food type a dog would choose itself, naturally. Raw is the best thing for your dog and the only product group that can be 100% natural because the product isn’t subjected to industrial heat treatment.

Complete DRY dog food
The label given to a food containing a meat meal or highly processed meat and bone meal as a protein source, providing certain amino acids and balanced with synthetic vitamins and minerals. Not ingredients naturally available in the wild and usually mechanically extruded using very high heat treatment processes.

Contains ingredients your dog is less likely to be intolerant or allergic to. Won’t solve the underlying sensitivity in your dog’s body, but may reduce the symptoms you see on the dog. Nature is around us and not something that can be packaged and sold to us. We all understand real nature and when choosing a great food for our pets its worth thinking, is that REALLY Natural.
