Nutriment Raw - enhanced raw feeding for dogsDid you know that humans are the only animals that cook their foods? We all know cooking breaks down many of the proteins and amino acids in fresh raw meat, destroying much of the nutritional goodness.
As obvious as it may sound, many people forget that dogs and cats were in existence long before man created kibble! Kibble was invented for the convenience of man, not for the benefit of our pets.
We are pleased to announce we have now added another range of raw foods in store at Scampers. The Nutriment range of BARF diets are based on fresh foods such as raw meats, raw bones, raw vegetables and minerals and are designed to ‘mimic’ what your dogs would eat in the wild.
Nutriment, pride themselves on the quality of their ingredients and will never include any fillers in their food. Nutriment will also always use British meat from human grade sources so you can be sure your pet is getting only the best, freshest, most natural food on the market.
If your dog has been eating the same protein every day for months or years, there is a good chance he or she may develop an allergy to it. Contrary to popular belief, dogs need diversity in their diets just like humans do - so don't be afraid to mix up your proteins a bit and give your dog some variety!
Our new range of Nutriment Adult complete raw foods are available in the following formulas; Beef, Chicken, Duck, Salmon and Turkey all contains 85% fresh meat, offal and bone.
Also available is Nutriment Low Purine & Phosphorus formula. This formula is specially designed for dogs suffering from kidney disease, bladder stones and liver problems. A low-purine diet is key to prevention in susceptible breeds. Nutriment Low Purine & Phosphorus formula is low in fat for dogs with pancreatitis. Contains 75% fresh meat and bone.
Finally, for the older generation, we have Nutriment Senior Formula which contains 75% fresh meat, offal and bone.
In general, dogs of seven years or more start taking life a bit easier and as a result their nutritional needs are different to those of younger dogs. In large breeds this change can occur even earlier. Senior dogs are less active with a slower metabolism so can be prone to gain weight and they may also require support for their ageing joints and immune system. They therefore require a high quality tasty diet such as Nutriment's Senior Formula with easy to digest protein, lower calories and a balance of essential nutrients.
How much do I need to feed?
A full grown adult dog should be fed around 2-3% of the dog's ideal body weight per day, ideally spread over two meals. If your dog needs to lose some weight, try feeding slightly less than this quantity, or switch to a meat with a lower fat content, until the ideal weight has been achieved. Don't forget that exercise is essential too! Always have fresh water available for your pets.
