Did you know that humans are the only animals that cook their foods? We all know cooking breaks down many of the proteins and amino acids in fresh raw meat, destroying much of the nutritional goodness.
As obvious as it may sound, many people forget that dogs and cats were in existence long before man created kibble! Kibble was invented for the convenience of man, not for the benefit of our pets.
Turn your kibble bag over and find out what you are feeding your new puppy. Some commercial foods contain a high percentage of fillers, such as cereals, grains, and soya which your puppy simply isn't designed to eat. Where’s the meat?
We are pleased to announce we have now added another range of raw foods in store. The Nutriment range of BARF diets are based on fresh foods such as raw meats, raw bones, raw vegetables and minerals and are designed to ‘mimic’ what your dogs would eat in the wild.
Nutriment, pride themselves on the quality of their ingredients and will never include any fillers in their food. Nutriment will also always use British meat from human grade sources so you can be sure your pet is getting only the best, freshest, most natural food on the market.
Nutriment Puppy Formula contains 90% fresh meat, offal and bone. Suitable for puppies over six weeks old.
Nutriment Puppy Weaning Paste is made with just one ingredient; chicken carcasses. Just as in babies you want to introduce plain and simple foods first. Nutriment Puppy Weaning is grounded to a paste that will have fine bits of bone easy for your new puppy to digest. The weaning paste is only intended as a supplement to the mother’s milk. They should be allowed to suckle first then offer the weaning paste. Contains 100% fresh meat and bone*. Suitable for puppies after three or four weeks old.
How much should I feed?
Puppies may be introduced to Nutriment Weaning food from around 3 to 4 weeks of age. After they have fed from Mum, try tempting them with a little paste, gradually increasing the amount over a week to ten days, when you may wish to switch to our Puppy food.
Once the puppy has been weaned, start by feeding 4-6% of the puppy's ideal body weight per day, ideally spread over three or four meals per day.
Once the puppy reaches around 5-6 months of age, you may reduce the number of feeds to twice per day and gradually reduce the amount to be fed to around 2-3% by the time the dog has achieved full size.
Remember - smaller breed dogs mature much faster than bigger breeds. We therefore suggest that a terrier should be fed the adult quantity of Nutriment by the time they reach around 10 months of age - whereas a Great Dane puppy will still require 4-6% for the first 18 months.
